Glovo and PragmaGO launch MCA financing for Romanian merchants

Glovo and PragmaGO are taking PragmaCash into Romania. The useful signal is how platform sales data becomes the first credit file, and where outside funders still need the rest of the merchant record.

The Fintech Times reported on Aug. 13 that Glovo and PragmaGO brought PragmaCash to Romania. This is the second market for these companies following Spain. They offer merchant cash advance financing to businesses that sell through the Glovo platform. U.S. brokers and funders should note the practical signal. The platform uses its own sales history as the primary credit file. PragmaGO stated that eligible Romanian Glovo merchants can access RON 3,000 to RON 200,000. The company calculates these limits based on prior Glovo transaction revenue instead of conventional bank files. Square, Shopify, and Amazon have used similar methods for embedded small-business credit. The borrower's cleanest first-party revenue source receives the first look. Local coverage from Business Review and Economica.net described a fully digital process. This process includes SMS contract signing, equal weekly instalments, and repayment options of four or twelve months. The launch targets several thousand merchants in the Glovo Romania partner network. Coverage named the HoReCa sector as dominant, alongside supermarkets, beauty, healthy food, and grocery categories. PragmaGO uses this model frequently. Its partner page states its merchant cash advance product serves platforms and marketplaces that want financing within their own customer environments. It lists Glovo, Allegro, Pluxee, and Qonto as partners. PragmaGO manages scoring, KYC, AML, contract signing, disbursement, customer service, repayment monitoring, and collection. PragmaGO also takes full credit risk unless a partner selects a different risk-sharing structure. The shift in risk changes who owns the borrower relationship. The merchant does not start with an ISO call or a bank appointment. Instead, the merchant starts inside the app that tracks order flow, ticket mix, category seasonality, and repayment capacity. If the pricing and service are sufficient, the merchant may stay in that channel rather than seeking a brokered file. The lesson for the U.S. market is specific. Glovo revenue does not represent the entire business. A restaurant selling through a delivery app may have walk-in sales, catering invoices, card deposits from other processors, cash leakage, tax obligations, rent stress, payroll pressure, and existing funding balances. Platform sales data provides evidence, but it falls short of a full reconciliation file. That gap matters when the merchant later reaches an outside funder. The funder has to compare platform sales with bank deposits, processor batches, delivery-app settlement timing, refunds, chargebacks, tax holds, rent, payroll, and prior advances. The platform may know one revenue channel better than anyone else. The open-market funder has to prove it can read the whole merchant better than the platform can. Opinion Platform revenue is evidence, not the whole borrower. Embedded lenders receive earlier and cleaner channel data. Independent funders must still secure the wider file, including bank deposits, processor reports, rent, payroll, tax holds, split payments, other funders, and the actual settlement path. Romania Journal reported in April that Omnicredit rebranded to PragmaGO after joining a Poland-headquartered group in 2024. This suggests the Glovo launch is a regional rollout of embedded SME finance rather than a single test. PragmaGO views Romania as a market with strong SME growth and fast digital adoption in Central and Eastern Europe. For a broker, the platform-visible merchant gets priced before reaching the open market. For a funder, a file sourced outside the platform must answer why the platform lender is not already the cheapest capital. A merchant might need a larger facility, equipment money, tax payments, a term refinance, inventory funding, or a holdback structure that covers all revenue. However, a generic bank statement package is weaker than platform data tied to daily transactions within a workflow. A delivery app sees what clears through its own system but cannot see the entire merchant. The credit question is whether platform revenue is a clean repayment rail, a partial channel, or the only healthy part of a business with stress elsewhere.
